Here's how to find your accommodation after you disembark from the ferry:

Directions to the Founder's Vista Suite

The Founder's Suite is located at Peterson Apartments on the second floor on the ocean-facing side of the building (#3), offering beautiful ocean views of the Bay.

Driving from the Ferry to 126 Cedar St (Approx. 3 minutes)

1. From the Ferry Ramp: As you drive off the ferry, yield to oncoming traffic, then TURN RIGHT on to FIR ST toward the heart of the village.
2. Continue Through the Village: Drive along Fir Street, passing the grocery store Shop-Rite on your left (do you need eggs for the morning?).
3. Look to turn before the Red Gordie's building: Just after the main commercial area, take a LEFT turn onto MAPLE RD.
4. Stay Right at the Fork: You will approach a fork in the road. VEER RIGHT to continue up the hill on MAPLE RD.
5. Turn Where Maple Rd Ends: At the top of the short hill, TURN LEFT on to CEDAR ST.
6. Look for the White Apartment Building at 126 Cedar St: Drive halfway up CEDAR ST until you reach PETERSON APARTMENTS. TURN LEFT on the LOWER SIDE of the Apartment. You can park your vehicle at the end of the lane alongside the apartment building. Look up from here and you will see the Founder's Vista suite above you on the second floor. From your car you walk up the stone staircase, and continue along the cement path until you reach the wide wooden staircase up to your suite (#3). You should see the ocean from your private deck.

On Foot:

Please note that this will involve walking elevations (37M) for a sustained period of time, which will test the stamina of casual walkers, but will be good exercise for the seasoned hiker.  Now if you don't have the option of a car and you are not in a rush it is worth the hike! Stop along the way to rest and enjoy the beautiful ocean views. During the summer there is an abundance of fresh berries along this route. Once you get here you can rest and recover on your private deck overlooking the Bay, with eagles soaring above your head with a lucky few seeing whales swim by! Driver's beware, for anyone with a car this route includes a no-through road with no parking so if you are driving please follow the directions by car found above (you will not be able to get to your suite this way). 

Walking Directions:

1. Walking off the ferry TURN RIGHT onto FIR ST and walk along the scenic boardwalk for 450 M. Please note you will walk past some food options and a pharmacy. Shop Rite General Store is our island’s grocer so you may want to stock up for breakfast. 
2. TURN LEFT onto MAPLE RD and walk for 100M where you will see a post office and BC liquor store on the left, and a Vancity credit union on the far right.
3. You will notice a split in the road, TURN LEFT onto HEMLOCK ST and walk up the left side of the road for 67M until you see WALNUT RD 
4. Now TURN RIGHT and walk up WALNUT RD until you reach the end of the paved road, you see a white apartment building (Peterson Apartments) ahead. The second floor with commanding views is yours. Continue toward the Apartment, then turn left and walk up the stone steps, along the cement path until you reach the wide wooden staircase to your Suite.

General Tips for Getting Around Alert Bay:

• Walking: Much of Alert Bay is easily explored on foot, especially the areas along Fir Street. Some roads like Maple and Cedar are hilly.
• Signage: Keep an eye out for local signage, which can also help guide you.
• Ask a Local: Alert Bay is a friendly community! If you're unsure, don't hesitate to ask someone for directions – people are usually happy to help. There is also a Visitor Centre in town. And of course we are always happy to answer any questions you might have while you are with us.
