‘Yalis is the ancestral home of the ‘Namgis First Nation, a tribe of the Kwakwaka̱'wakw. Getting to our unique island community is part of the adventure! A scenic 40-minute ferry ride from Port McNeill on Vancouver Island will bring you to our shores.

Here's how to find your accommodation after you disembark from the ferry
Directions to Gordie's Inn & Suites
Gordie's is an ocean-front establishment located in the heart of the village, making it very easy to find.
- Exiting the Ferry: As you leave the ferry terminal (whether walking or driving), you will be on Fir Street, which is the main road that runs along the waterfront through the village.
- Turn Right: Turn RIGHT onto Fir Street.
- Short Distance: Gordie's Inn & Suites & Inn will be a short distance ahead on your left-hand side (the suites are on the ocean facing side of the building) located at 4 Maple Rd.
- It's typically less than a 500-meter (or a 2-3 minute) walk or a very short drive.
General Tips for Getting Around Alert Bay:
- Walking: Much of Alert Bay is easily explored on foot, especially the areas along Fir Street.
- Signage: Keep an eye out for local signage, which can also help guide you.
- Ask a Local: Alert Bay is a friendly community! If you're unsure, don't hesitate to ask someone for directions – people are usually happy to help.
